Review: Sorcery of Thorns

Sorcery of Thorns Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A book about a book.
yep, we want more of these!

Slow claps for Margaret Rogerson for making us feel so doomed bout our very own existence, by portraying an M/C who was born and brought up in a library, have read countless no. of books, wants to become a warden, who talks to books and the books also listen to her as well. On top of that, she plays a sword like a feisty warrior goddess.
If this hasn't made you feel shitty, the fact that this extremely broody, tall, handsome, wicked-mouthed sorcerer declares his love for her, will urge you to kill yourself.

I love the fact that this is one of the few fantasies which broke the stereotypical portrayal of characters. First of all, Elizabeth is tall, she is freakishly tall and yeah she's not emotionally constipated. Brownie points to that.
Nathaniel is bi, which is so rare especially in the fantasy genre.

All of the characters are AMAZING. And the romance is shoooooo cute<3
The setting, world-building, and elements of the magical library are quintessential. Margaret Rogerson is one of those few authors who make you feel atmospheric about the entire fantasy setting with amazing, less-annoying M/Cs and you can go never wrong with her books.

The Shadows Between Us is a Slytherin Romance, tracing our morally dark protagonists Alessandra and The Shadow King, Kallias, and their journey to fall in love. Let's start with something beautiful. “They've never found the body of the first and only boy who broke my heart. And they never will.” For something claiming to be dark and morbid, this is pretty light. There are several areas of the book that is being touched from the surface and left as it is. For instance, our central characters, Alessandra and Kallias. Both of them are shown as dark & morally grey, but there is no justification given behind their behavior, their psychology. They are being simply shown it's the way both of them are. Coupled with t...
