The first world in the mortal instruments series begins with 16-year-old Clary Fray comes across this group of Shadowhunters, part humans and part angels who kill the creatures from Downworld to main the harmony between the human world and the shadow world. Later hunting the riddles of her earlier life and about her mom, Jocelyn Fray who was also a Shadowhunter, running all her life to keep Clary away from the same world.
The world-building by Cassandra Clare is absolutely fabulous and powerful enough to draw the attention of a reader, who gets to know about this Shadowhunters world. Especially for a Fantasy lover, no way he/she can keep himself/herself away from the sphere. There are Shadowhunters, there are Downworlders which includes Vampires, Werewolves, Warlocks, Faeries and so much more! And each one of them is bound to a certain kind of rule and way of life which is very fascinating and intriguing to know about.
However, there are few bummers in the first book itself which may upset the reader to the core. The stretchy plot where nothing is happening. Though, the society has been properly described in this book at the same time your expectations may go down a bit down, which may even stop you from diving into the next book. Writing is fine, not that smooth. Also, some of the plot twists have the ability to completely shook you off, so beware of that! There is a tint of humor at some places that engage the reader. Some of the characters are so complex and critical, at the same time you will witness some blunt characters. You have to push yourself at times to complete the first book.
